Web Directions South 2009 — Submit your program ideas

For just on a month we’ve been running a forum asking for ideas for how we can make Web Directions South this year even better than it has been in previous years. Lost of good things have come from this, including ideas and leads for how we can have real coffee at the conference, or birds of a feather sessions and other networking ideas.

Just this week John and I have started really thinking about the program, so, now is the time for you to submit an idea for a session. In particular, if you are keen to present, we want to hear from you! Anything that gets submitted in the next couple of weeks will certainly be seriously considered. We’ve never liked to use terms like “call for papers” as that would make us sound like a way more academic event than we are, but, effectively, that’s what this is. If you’ve worked on something cool, interesting and generalisable that you think others would benefit from hearing about, please submit it at the forum — just make sure we can work out who you are :)

  1. I would like to see more advanced sessions on web strategy, usability and interaction design. Talking to other attendees that I met at WD 2008, a consistent themes was that we felt that althought the sessions were enjoyable, some of them were at a basic level of understanding and as such we did not get a great deal from the session.

  2. Thanks Daniel. Yes, this was something we have established from the feedback ourselves as well. Be assured that this year we will be upping the ante a little in terms of the level of the content.
