Be there at the begin­ning: come and cel­e­brate the start of the first ever Australian Web Week with us. Featuring the launch of a world pre­miere exhi­bi­tion by Yiying Lu, designer of Twitter’s iconic “fail whale”, who has put together some­thing spe­cial in con­junc­tion with aug­mented real­ity pio­neers MOB.

About the exhibition

Designer of the iconic Twitter fail whale, which is employed by the social net­work­ing ser­vice Twitter dur­ing peri­ods of down­time caused by over capac­ity, Yiying Lu designs beau­ti­ful, engag­ing, intel­li­gent, charm­ing and fun filled images, which delight the viewer.

The white mam­mal has been such a suc­cess that it has earned it’s cre­ator a Shorty Award in NY – the equiv­a­lent of the Oscars which awards the best short con­tent cre­ators on Twitter — and one of Next 100 Emerging Leaders in Innovation by The Australian. Read more about the Fail Whale here.

In this, her first ever pub­lic show, Yiying has col­lab­o­rated with Augmented Reality pio­neers MOB, to deliver art­work that gen­uinely has to be seen to be believed. Come along and check it out, upstairs at the Pyrmont Bridge Hotel.

After the open­ing night, the exhi­bi­tion will run until Tuesday October 6th, when it will move to the expo area of Web Directions South 2009.
