Year round learning for product, design and engineering professionals

If I were…

If I were a fresh faced young CS undergraduate I would be onto the this opportunity to work for very good guys at Freshview (think Campaign Monitor and Mailbuild) like white on rice.

If I were a woman with my finger on the pulse of the Aussie startup scene I’d be putting up my hand for spot number 9 at Josh Sharp’s new Techcollective – “a group of prominent and up-and-coming Australian bloggers who write about the new generation of the web and related technologies”.

If I had a few spare moments next week I would be heading over to Vibewire’s e-Festival of Ideas. From the 8th April join the forum for 5 days of online discussion around democracy, media, arts and social change, live and unmediated with special guests including Mark Pesce (he needs no introduction round here, right?), Kate Raynes-Goldie (social web and online community expert), Anna Broinowski (director of last year’s FORBIDDEN LIE$), and Axel Bruns (author of Blogs, Wikipedia, Second Life, and Beyond: From Production to Produsage), and they’re just the names I’m familiar with. Oh, and Gotye is going to be doing an interview as well.

And lastly, (off topic and grown ups only content ahead) if I were a conservative American young lady, I wouldn’t date liberal guys because:

superficially, they may be more fun to be around. They’re a bit looser and more relaxed. They make an effort to be more sensitive, but the sensitivity only goes so far.

Slaps forehead. Now I understand where I’ve been going wrong all these years! Hat tip Virginia for this gem.

Stay cool like Canada people, and have a lovely early Autumn weekend!
