Year round learning for product, design and engineering professionals

Our Design ’19 product design conference program is here

Web Directions has always had a strong focus on design; and yet it was only with the launch of our product design conference, Design last year, that we had a dedicated, stand alone event for all things digital product and service design. The response to last year’s Design  was overwhelmingly positive,  we’ve worked even harder on this years “difficult second conference” program for Australia’s only single track conference with a laser sharp focus on product design.

Jeff Veen

First up, we are thrilled to have long time friend of Web Directions (he first spoke for us way back in 2005), the genuinely legendary Jeffrey Veen. Founding member of the Wired magazine web team, founder of the ground breaking UX agency Adaptive Path, and the web-changing TypeKit. He’s been Vice President of Design at Adobe, and is now a Design Partner at VC firm True Ventures.

Jeff will open Design ’19, and you will not want to miss this!

Jina Anne

A genuine world leader in design systems and designops, Jina was instrumental in the development of design systems at Salesforce, Amazon, and Apple.

She’s the co-author of the Design Systems Handbook and convenor of the Clarity Design Systems conference. No one has more experience with design systems than Jina.

Jason Pamental

Typographer and Design Strategist, Author of O’Reilly’s Responsive Typography, invited expert to the W3C’s Web Fonts Working Group, few people know more about the landscape of modern fonts and typography than Jason.

Get up to speed with the latest in dynamic, responsive digital typography from Jason.

Eva Penzeymoog

A designer at 8th Light, Eva focussed on inclusive, online safety, and designing against domestic violence.

Eva will focus on how we can ensure that digital products cannot be used as tools of abuse, with a goal to reduce harm in the world through centering the safety of victims of domestic violence, something she calls “designing for inclusive safety.”

Plus many more

There are as always many more sessions at Design, focussing on a broad range topics of real relevance to product design teams. We’ve worked hard to curate a really valuable lineup, and hope you take a few minutes to take a look at what we’ve put together for you. The full program is available at the Design ’19 site.

Thoroughly enjoyed Web Directions — met some great people, heard some inspiring presenters and added a whole bunch of things to my to-do list.
