Year round learning for product, design and engineering professionals

Social Events during Web Directions

Plenty to do after hours during Web Directions South this year – rest assured, you will not be going back to your hotel room after things wrap up at the conference and workshops each day.

Please let me know if you’re organising something you’d like me to publicise – happy to spread the word!

Wednesday 24

Port 80 Drinks

I’m pretty sure this is the longest running Web Directions informal social event. After the workshop are over on Wednesday come along and get to know the crew from WA at the Harlequin Inn (CNR of Harris and Union St in Pyrmont) from 6.30. The good people from Clever Starfish and Radharc are putting on a bar tab – this will definitely be a fun, friendly meetup and a great way to start the conference. Just don’t let them lead you too far astray – remember that 9am start on Thursday morning :)

Full details here.

Thursday 25

Web Directions South Opening Night drinks

Thursday afternoon finishes up with a much anticipated session from August de los Reyes, the awarding of the McFarlane Prize and then our Opening Night drinks, from 5.30 to 7.00. These will be at the conference venue, just upstairs in the Bayside Terrace.

AussieTUB

Web Directions is a great opportunity to actually meet all those people you follow on Twitter and get to know them on a richer deeper level way beyond the virtual. Come along to the Sydney Twitter meetup directly after our drinks. From 7.00 at the Pontoon Bar in Darling Harbour. Full Facebook invite here.

Webjam

The all new Webjam 8 will happen at Bar Broadway on September 25, right after our opening night drinks. If you haven’t been to a Webjam before, this will be a fun action packed night when 15 or so people have 3 minutes each to impress the crowd with something cool they have done recently. Be sure to RSVP at the Webjam site.

And if you have something you want to present – don’t hold back!! Glory and prizes could be yours!

Friday 26

Closing Night Drinks

After Mark’s presentation on Friday afternoon we’ll be heading over to the Shelbourne Hotel for a few quiet drinks and a bit of elevator music brought to you by none other than The Man in Blue and Lucas Chan. From 5.30 till late.
