Collective small actions. Service Design in Government

Ben Holliday UK DWP

The transformation of government services isn’t really about roadmaps or the latest technology. It’s about people. And to transform anything, you have to start with the culture of how you do things. Collective small actions.

In government the challenge is how we bring people together to think differently, and then to work differently towards delivering better services.

The challenge is not only about how we re-shape our policy thinking but also in how we operate services efficiently and at scale to best meet the needs of our users.

In this talk Ben will tell his story of designing digital by default services for GOV.UK. Starting at the UK Government Digital Service and then leading the design team at the UK’s largest government department, the Department for Work & Pensions.

Ben Holliday

Ben has over 15 years experience working on products and services for many different organisations. Working extensively with not-for-profit, charity and arts organisations, as well as startups in the UK. He has spent the last 3 years working in the UK government, most recently leading the design team at the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

Ben has spent much of his career making sure that user research is a part of the design process and agile delivery teams. More recently he’s been especially interested in helping establish design leadership within large organisations, looking at how design can influence company culture and ultimately the products and services we deliver.

Don't miss your chance to see Ben and other inspiring speakers at Transform.

Tickets start at $599, for an in-depth day with the world's leading Government digital service design experts.
